An incredible night spent in Palmerton, PA with Yahaira & Jose.

What I loved most about this session, was all the things it taught me about the power of trusting your instincts. It might surprise you to note that I was very much hands off during this session - guiding the two of them to locations around the hill but largely allowing them to explore and interact with each other on their own. I didn’t orchestrate their movements or direct them into poses, rather allowed them to find a natural rhythm within each other, and just watched with camera in hand as their movements unfolded.

If you’re looking for an engagement session that feels natural and unscripted, can I let you in on a little secret? Here it is …. there is no secret. It’s literally just about trusting your photographer. Being comfortable in finding that rhythm and not caring if it takes a few minutes to relax into it. That’s what I’m there for ultimately anyway - to allow you to be comfortable within yourselves. And to translate that comfort into emotive photos that make you FEEL something. That tell a story that isn’t the same as everyone else’s. How could it be? There is no one that could ever tell your story in the same way.

I look at each of these photos and I remember these two people on that hill. I remember the way they melted into one another with golden sun in their hair. I remember we listened to music and laughed at their silly dances. I remember how easy it felt and how true.

And I can’t wait to find that truth with each and every one of my couples this year. It inspires me more than you know.
